Where has 'service with a smile' gone?

It surprises me all the time when i visit different business places, shops or have a telephone conversation with a sales or customer service representative.  There is always an underlying tone of annoyance when you try to get their help.

At some time past customer service was always with a smile and a pleasant greeting (was encouraging to ask your questions without fear), now few places seem to practice this.    The customer is now a bother to them or it is an automated service reply by a telephone which answers only set or specific questions.

Proverbs 11 :25 - The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself.

Whilst this proverb may be referring to an individual being generous, it starts with you the owner to display this quality first amongst your employees, be generous with a smile, create a good atmosphere for your business and watch your sales skyrocket.  Be consistent in your generosity, cultivate and sow smiles.  In so doing you will welcome 10 more customers to your portfolio.

Think of a  "tired mother" who experienced a busy week at work, goes out on a weekend to do shopping for the household, your smile may very well be the hope and encouragement that gets her going strong for the rest of the day. She will most certainly return to your shop and become a regular customer.
